It is winter here, so I am not finding joy in running my fingers through the dirt and gardening right now. However, the winter brings its own unique kind of joy and peace.
As the full moon glistened on the white snow last night I was stopped in my tracks, and had to just pause at the window and take it all in. Oh, what majestic beauty! It made me smile and take a deep breath, and ponder on the goodness of God. My heart was filled with joy and a feeling of peace and reverence.
I have found that God is always trying to give me a hug throughout the day. If I do not stop what I am doing to enjoy a beautiful bird, a sunset, a thunderstorm, or watch the snowflakes gently fall, covering the earth with a white blanket of snow, I have missed the hug my Heavenly Father was trying to give me.
The winters are hard and long, a lot like the hardships in our lives. Looking for God’s hand in the things around us gives us a warm embrace, and helps us keep going. The beauties in nature truly testify that there is a God, and that he loves us.
What can you notice today that testifies to you that God is really there and loves you?
